We the people elect a man who doesn't care about our kids at all. The kids is our future and he letting them down it's not just about sports it's about in class learning too. It's time too get a new leader for Illinois

The in person learning issue is tied with sports. You get kids back in the classroom & sports, the public tide turns. Normalcy imbues confidence.

William Brady. So our governor and this states leadership is so much more intelligent than the other 40 states allowing youth and HS football/Soccer/and Volleyball this fall. You state that this article is a lazy argument due to a political motive... Not allowing these sports this fall (or in person schooling in some district) is a lazy effort by the this State to adapt to the current conditions like Michigan did last week. Its unfortunate, that so many "Sheeppeople" in the 10 states not having these fall activity's, don't understand importance these fall activity's have on molding our youth into young productive adults... They want to turn them into there "Sheep"... The data in the 40 states currently playing fall sports (which have been going on for month now), has yet to prove that its is affecting our Covid rates any more than the so called peaceful protests that the 10 states currently not having fall sports so graciously accepted and allowed...!!!

Pritzker is no different than Pelosi, they will stand against Trump at all cost and will twist words to gain the attention of the press to favor them, regardless of the inhumane reasons they have to line their pockets with money and power!

Pritzker has political ambitions beyond being Governor. Kids/athletics are pawns.

I think the author needs to take a science class - probably even a beginners. Talking to a high school football coach instead of an MD to prove your point - that’s real brilliance!

I think the science says, live! But people are so double minded...we have parents insisting on remote learning for the classroom, but protesting because sports are cancelled...you can’t have it both ways!!

The differences in Illinois and the states who are trying to get back to a quality of life we have been denied is that we have a Democratic leader and the city of Chicago. Politics have nothing to do with the fact that he has no empathy with the rest of the state, every community depends on the school system to survive on some level. The flower shop, pizza parlors, sporting goods stores, and a host of businesses need our youth to be a part of the community either by participating in or supporting all high school activities.

By law what the governor is doing is illegal. He has lost a law suit 2 times stating any “executive orders” cannot be enforced. It was a law voted into the books in the 1974 or so. So, my question would be if these orders are illegal why is the IHSA following the guidelines given? That and every community is different. Why not let the community leaders make these decisions? We know our community better than anyone.

Why is it that people cannot have a different opinion than you without having an ulterior motive? Pro sports are spending millions to try and have a season. Certainly you are not suggesting that high schools have those type of resources. Your point is that kids get sick and then they get better. This is a logical argument. I believe that others can logically see an unnecessary danger that could lead to a major illness. Unfortunately for you the decision is being made by someone who by law has to make the decision and who disagrees with you. Your making this a political decision is a lazy argument, easily made and not clearly proven.

HS do not have the resources as professional teams. No one will argue that. When you see other states reversing decisions based on community outcry and updated data that supports their convictions, is it not fair to question Pritzker's initial reasoning? Why has he not revisited this? Why is decision permanent when others are not? It leaves credibility gap and motive may be other than 'health and safety'

You making a rebuttal without facts is easily as lazy and not clearly proven, either. The facts are that 18 yo’s chances of dying from Covid are a helluva lot less than many other risks that they face: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/covid-data/investigations-discovery/hospitalization-death-by-age.html.

Why then are protests, rioting, looting and burning allowed. Using your logic crowds of this size are unnecessary danger that should have caused major illness.... but it did not....this is political because it is an election year...
