I’m a first time reader, redirected from Rep. Halbrook’s Substack in which this topic was addressed. As you have thought about this deeply what do you think “Right to play” says about our culture and is this an issue we want to be instrumental in defining who we are and contributing to framing an answer to the question “How shall we now live?” Our Illinois legislature is clearly not a place today where we should look for an answer to that question.
Hi Gary...good to hear from you and thanks for reading. I would agree on the IL GA. They for the most part vote and take positions counter to common sense and rational thought. If "Right to Play" passes, that's one piece of legislation I'd affirm. I think we are seeing the private sector gain more of a foothold in youth sports. Parents are spending more money on training, teams, etc. They want to be able to spend their money/time on their terms, without restriction. For those who have the resources, that's how they want to live.
Well said Mr. Kerr. I’ve been in both camps (AAU coach & HS coach) and I think you covered it well. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for reading and commenting, coach. Appreciate the feedback.
So glad to have you back writing these kinds of stories. Keep it up.
Thank you, Jeff, for reading and commenting. Good to be back writing in this space again. More to come.
