How is everybody’s weekend going? Thanks for spending a portion of it with the Sunday Six.
I wanted to take a portion of this space and give everyone a heads up about an email I’ll be sending out next week.
In the 19 months-plus existence of The Kerr Report, I’ve never sent out a reader survey. Now is a good time to hear from you, about what you like/don’t like about the newsletter, what you’d like to see more/less of and any suggestions you may have for content. The survey will be short – shouldn’t take more than three minutes to fill out.
I’ll have more details in body of email that will hit your email box Tuesday or Wednesday of this coming week. Thank you in advance.
Now, let’s proceed with the Six.
Where’s Fauci? Famous Bureaucrat Marginalized to Obscure Shows.
On Feb. 25, an internal memo from a Democratic polling firm got leaked to the media. The memo advised the Biden Administration to “declare victory over COVID and move on.” Since then, the government face of Covid, Dr. Anthony Fauci, has gone missing. We haven’t seen Fauci on the morning talk shows, CNN or any outlet with a sizable platform. For Fauciites clamoring for nuggets of fear-laden propaganda, they have to search far and wide. The Dossier newsletter has more on the search for the now-elusive lab coat tyrant.
A lot written about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. This article from Puck news is really good and not about the nuts and bolts of the insurgency. This piece attempts to deduce Vladimir Putin’s grim master plan, parses his words, and re-imagines the germs of a new world order.
An Unsettling Situation in Greenwich, Connecticut.
There’s something amiss in one of the east coast’s wealthiest enclaves. The daughter of a hedge fund founder was arrested in January on charges and pleaded guilty to secretly filming minors in intimate situations. Used to seeing her face on the society pages, her mug shot has been circulating on television and newspapers for weeks. A judge sealed the criminal file so details are scarce. The New York Times takes a stab at how the gruesome misdeeds in this case has impacted the overall psyche within the ruling class town of Greenwich.
Inside the Vicious Feud Tearing Playboy Alumnae Apart.
It’s been almost five years since the Chicago-born founder of media giant Playboy, Hugh Hefner, died. It should come as no surprise that there is a docu-series out taking aim at his legacy. Women who worked for Hefner decades ago are now claiming they were treated unfairly and are speaking out about their experiences. The LA Times takes us inside a feud between Playboy ex-employees with differing viewpoints on the culture and climate at Playboy, run for over a half-century by the controversial Hefner.
How “Euphoria” Became TV’s Best Horror Show.
I admit I’m hooked on HBO’s teen/adult drama “Euphoria.” To call it just a teen drama is not fair. I haven’t been a teenager for awhile but I still watch the show. The reason, I think, is how “Euphoria” has something for every age group (although the adults on the show for the most part behave very badly). The style and look of the the show is so aesthetically engrossing (it must cost $10 million to film these episodes) that viewers forget how there isn’t much of a plot. It’s dark, creepy, often disturbing, but sooo much fun. The Daily Beast takes a stab at explaining the show’s rise to the heights of pop cultural relevancy and how far we’ve come from the days of “Beverly Hills 90210” (more my generation’s young adult drama and a helluva lot more virtuous).
Raging Bull Crashes Bike Race.
We’re back here at the Six with animal attacks! Great video in this article via the NY Post of a cyclist getting mauled by a wild bull. It happened during a race in Bakersfield, CA and the cyclist, according to the story, mistook the bull for a cow. We’ve all probably encountered a mishap or two while bike riding but “bull mauling” likely not one of them. Two other riders had encounters with the same bull but came “home safe and were all back drinking beers.” Cheers to the cyclists. That’s pushing through the pain.
Thanks for reading everybody and enjoy the rest of your weekend.
