How’s everyone’s weekend going? Thanks for spending a portion of it with the Six.
Since my last Six column three weeks ago, our public health-driven Panic Industrial Complex has gone into overdrive.
The emergence of a new Covid-variant dubbed “Pirola” has fired up the usual gang of Covidian Pinheads and their Clown Prince Communications Capos.
First, there’s the daily local and evening news reports with such fear-bating headlines as “hospitals see increase in Covid patients” or “new Covid variant linked to rise in respiratory illness” with the requisite b-roll of masked citizens in airports or shopping malls. Interviews follow with Covidian doctors sympathetic to the dilerium, trotting out the oft-repeated warnings for the “immune-compromised and those with comorbidities.” The Feds, never to let a phony crisis go to waste, next jump in with their virtue signaling––President Biden masking up this past week at a public event––and marketing campaigns touting investment in a new booster shot that will “slow the spread and make symptoms much more mild.” Per usual, none of this propaganda is sourced with any data as to its efficacy. It’s regurgitated by state-sponsored legacy media outlets that leverage Covid Hysteria to help pay its bills. The lobotomized walking dead, like island-dwelling clapping seals, swallow the rubbish faster than a Sigma Chi frat boy downs a beer bong.
I’m not surprised by any of it. We’ve seen the news cycle before and will again. The commerce of it all makes money and there are reputations to defend.
Whenever we go through a panic sequence, our country’s Covidian-in-Chief, Dr. Anthony Fauci, grants interviews. What a blessing!
In a recent chat with CNN, Fauci dismissed the Cochrane Review study that came out earlier this year. The study quotes an Oxford epidemiologist saying “there is just no evidence that (masks) make any difference” and goes on to conclude how “mask mandates imposed early in the pandemic were influenced by “nonrandomized studies, flawed observational studies” (randomized control trials are thought by many to be the gold standard for medical research) and that “the pooled results of (randomized control trials) did not show a clear reduction in respiratory viral infection with the use of medical/surgical masks.”
Asked about the study, Fauci said: “When you’re talking about the effect on the epidemic or the pandemic as a whole, the data are less strong, but when you talk about an individual basis of someone protecting themselves or protecting themselves from spreading it to others, there’s no doubt that there are many studies that show that there is an advantage” (to masking).
Huh? So the sum of the whole is less damaging than the individual parts? Did he consult with the Bloodhound Gang from “3-2-1 Contact” before making that astute analysis?
Autocrats like Fauci and the fright hustling psuedo doctors/scientists on TwitterX hold on to these indefensible positions not from the basis of science, but reputational management.
They cannot admit they were wrong.
And as long as heritage-brand public health institutions like the CDC and the WHO recommend affirming actions as it pertains to masking and vaccines, they remain credible amongst Covidian sympathizers.
But no longer should we be granting an audience to these buffoons. Their words do nothing but indulge the neuroses of the mentally ill.
Those people should seek help, not advice from panic peddlers like Fauci.
Let’s proceed with the Six.
1. Aging Biden Erodes Poll Numbers, Even Vs. Trump.
We are post-Labor Day, prime time for the launch of campaign and polling seasons. A presidential cycle adds more juice this time around. Every time President Biden speaks off the cuff, or on cuff, he sounds like a man lapsing into full-fledge dementia. Polling numbers show people are noticing, even registered Dems. This from Axios: “77% of adults think Biden, 80, is too old to effectively serve for four more years, with 89% of Republicans holding that view and 69% of Democrats, the AP-NORC poll found.” Compare that with Trump, whom voters associate “…words like ‘corrupt, criminal,’ and ‘crooked’ come to mind first for former President Trump.” Assuming both are the nominees, the ‘24 election will likely come down to “two main sticking points among voters: Biden's age and Trump's legal peril.” What’s the least worse, dementia or deceit? Awesome. How fantastic for our country.
2. First 100 Days Of Brandon Johnson: Predictable In It’s Ineffectiveness.
Inaugurated in May, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson recently eclipsed the first 100 days of his administration. What has he accomplished? Ah, er…he fired the city health commissioner. Gave more paid time off to Chicago Teacher’s Union members. Can’t think of anything else. He’s been granting interviews to commemorate the 100-day milestone and snapped back at critics for, you guessed it, “microagressions” and how he’s being held to a “different standard as a black man.” Johnson likely won’t do much of anything as mayor other than give his political party, the CTU, everything they want and more, as well as ask for money the city doesn’t have to pay for uber-progressive policies. The headline of this piece in the City Journal reads “Brandon Johnson is on course to be the Windy City’s most damaging leader in living memory.” Stay the “course,” BJ! Don’t let The Man bring you down. You do you!
3. Why Bill Watterson Disappeared.
The creator of the popular comic strip, “Calvin & Hobbes,” quit on Dec. 31, 1995 and settled into retirement in a Cleveland suburb. He quickly embraced a reclusive life, becoming a modern-day J.D. Salinger as he turned away every journalist who darkened his doorstep for nearly three decades. But now, with a new book to plug (of course), Bill Watterson is back in the public eye––somewhat reluctantly and explains why he disappeared, and likely will again.
4. The Football Praying Coach Makes A Comeback.
In 2015, a Washington state high school coach named Joe Kennedy was told to stop praying on school property by his public school employer. He sued and a seven-year legal battle ended in 2022 when the Supreme Court ruled in his favor. Kennedy got his old job back––and a seven-figure settlement––and last week, Kennedy coached his first game since the legal challenges concluded. This article via The Free Press interviews Kennedy on the saga and motivations behind it. I’ve always had mixed emotions about Kennedy––respect his religious beliefs and convictions but never felt he was completely honest about his addiction to attention and adulation. Any legal victory over a public institution is a worth celebrating so I’m rooting for Kennedy.
5. After Hurricane, A Flamingo Fallout.
Hurricane Idalia wrought a great deal of destruction when it made landfall last weekend. It also happened to dump a bunch of flamingos where flamingos usually cannot be found. From a USA Today article: “The iconic, pink plumaged birds first started showing up all over Florida, on both coasts and the northern Gulf Coast as Hurricane Idalia passed. By Saturday however, three days after landfall, flamingo sightings had been reported in Alabama, South and North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee and Virginia…” The article continues how it's not unheard of for flamingos to be caught up in hurricanes and dropped hundreds of miles from where they started, but this situation is said to be pretty extreme. Probably not great for the flamingos, as they’re really not suited for Midwestern winters.
6. Covidians Deserve Ridicule.
Much praise to this man for taking action towards a member of the Mask Cultists. No amnesty bro! This guy does it with a perfect blend of humor and scorn.
Thanks for reading everybody and have a great rest of your weekend.
