A New Section to TRK; Subscriber Survey
How is everyone this Friday? Looking forward to the weekend and the good September weather.
So a couple of updates to pass along to all of you today.
One…I have added a new section to The Kerr Report. It is called the “Football Hotsheet.” You guessed it…it’s a football-only newsletter.
The reason I did this is because I do miss writing about athletics and specifically, football. I played the sport (unexceptionally, mind you), I coach it at the youth level and I’ve covered it as a reporter, all all levels, high school, college and NFL, for over 20 years. I’m a big believer in football as a reflection of American culture and of our nation’s core values.
While I have written plenty of articles in TKR about football, I decided to start a subsidiary publication of TKR devoted just to the sport.
Here are early preview links to articles I’ll be posting on The Hotsheet:
*The Bites: Week 1 In The Big 10
*The Super Senior Stays In Champaign
*2021 Pre-Season All-Chicagoland Big 10 Team
*Rankings: Chicagoland Prep Tenacious 12
What does all of this mean for The Kerr Report newsletter?
Nothing.
More than ever, there is demand for honest, analytical reporting on what’s happening in Chicagoland and our state as it impacts schools and our communities. I still plan to report and write about the same topics and issues I have for the past year — education, politics and culture. No changes there.
But I also know some of you that are subscribers to TKR are not interested in receiving articles about football. I know I have football readers, those familiar with my sportswriting, who may not want to read TRK.
If you like reading both, don’t do anything. You’ll receive both newsletter emails when published.
But If you want only one newsletter, whether it be the Football Hotsheet or TKR, there are two easy ways to subscribe.
HERE’S HOW
At the bottom of this email, below the ‘Share’ button is a link that says ‘Unsubscribe.’ Click that link.
Here’s what will come onto your screen:
If you don’t want to receive the football newsletter, click the box next to “The Football Hotsheet.”
Your screen will then look like this:
If you only want “The Football Hotsheet” and do not want to receive “The Kerr Report,” click the box next to where it says “The Kerr Report.”
Once you’ve completed that task, your screen will look like this:
Easy peasy huh?
Remember, if you like reading both, you don’t have to do anything. You’ll receive both newsletter emails when published.
ASKING FOR INPUT, INSIGHTS AND IDEAS ON NEXT PHASE OF TKR
Many of you have been loyal readers of The Kerr Report since it launched last summer. I appreciate all of you and the relationship I’ve made with many of you over that time.
It’s time to build on that and grow the publication.
Over the coming months, I’d like to experiment with some different content formats. I’d like add an audio/podcasting/live streaming element. More interviews with newsmakers while continuing to write and give you informed analysis and opinion.
But I’d like to hear from you.
What would like to see more of? What types of content, more or less? What new content would you like to see in the newsletter?
I want you to feel free to share any ideas you may have.
I’ll be adding a paid subscription either later this year or by January 2022. But before I do, I’d like to know what you want out of TKR so I can deliver the best publication possible moving forward.
Here’s how you can reach me: Drop me a note at jonjkerr@gmail.com. Or send me a direct message on my Twitter feed, @jonjkerr.com.
I’m asking because I do want your opinion. So please reach out with thoughts on what you like or don’t like and what you most want to see in the coming months.
Again, drop me a note at jonjkerr@gmail.com. Or send me a direct message on my Twitter feed, @jonjkerr.com.
I’ll look forward to hearing from many of you. Have a great late summer weekend.
As always, thanks for reading and your support of the newsletter.
